As property owners review their proposed operations assessment in the searchable Four Lakes Special Assessment District map we've received several common questions:
Based on the quick-poll results below, it's evident that, while everyone has a right to speak, FLTF simply cannot spend so much time responding to unfounded allegations. We will turn to focus our energy on helping people understand our policy positions and the processes we follow to get to the best solution for restoration. Below the results are our stated positions.
Questions to Ask Yourself
Restoring the dams in Midland and Gladwin counties is one of the most important conversations of the decade, perhaps for those on the lake community, a generation! We get many questions from property owners and the community. Lately, these questions focus on the ethics and compliance of FLTF - specifically the four points below. The question we would like to know is, “what do you personally believe?” I made a presentation during the Midland Area Community Foundation’s Long-term Recovery Group meeting Thursday, March 11. Because it was in Midland, I covered a case study from Sanford.
The Midland Daily News has done a good job summarizing the meeting. Please check out the link below, which I feel is worth a read. As a side note, it has somehow been misrepresented on social media that I said something to indicate I am not in favor of bringing back the lakes. Significant efforts are underway to stabilize shorelines where erosion rills, seawall seepage, and bare sand/soil erosion is taking place. You can see a map of erosion projects and check on their status here.
We want to hear your opinions! Don't forget to submit the FLTF community survey. Never received the survey? Lost it or the survey code? Contact Cody Proudfoot at Public Sector Consultants: [email protected] or 517-331-9499.
