Construction continues to progress on schedule and within budget. With the changing seasons, crews are taking advantage of the warmer weather to let concrete cure properly.

New to the newsletter is a key performance indicator (KPI) section that reveals how each project is doing in terms of cost, schedule and quality. The construction updates highlight work completed in September and upcoming milestones. The most notable construction milestone is that five of the six gates are installed on Sanford Dam.

Download/view the September construction update Secord and Smallwood work sites suspended work at the end of October. The crews demobilized equipment as work was completed. FLTF will continue to monitor the three suspended dams with safety inspections. Sanford work will continue until the end of January. The crew will complete Phase 2 of the cofferdam before fully suspending work.
This will be our last construction update until construction restarts, hopefully in spring of 2025. Download/view the November construction update Secord and Smallwood are demobilizing crews in preparation for the upcoming suspension this month. The crews are ensuring that the dam is in a safe and stable condition while the litigation surrounding the appeal continues. We have an updated completion date graphic on our dams page. Meanwhile, Sanford work continues until January. The crew is pouring concrete in the powerhouse, low level outlet and the retaining walls. Edenville construction is already suspended, with Smallwood following in September, Secord in October, and Sanford in January. We continue to work through the Michigan Court of Appeals case and hope crews can get back to work again in the spring/summer of 2025.
