October Construction News
10/6/2026 Smallwood Lake officially reached its normal legal level. With little rain, lake refill was slow. Sanford and Smallwood lakes will remain at their current levels until the lakes are required to be drawn down to winter levels in December. On Secord Dam, crews reached several construction milestones and the dam’s estimated substantial completion date still remains November 2026 with lake refill in the spring of 2027. Tobacco River to Raise 4 Feet 9/18/26 Starting on September 19, 2026, we will begin raising the Tobacco River side of Wixom Lake by as much as 4 feet. This task was originally scheduled for the spring of 2027, but we determined it would be better to raise it now to help stay on schedule for the substantial completion date of September 2027. Starting this task early does not change the critical path or the substantial completion date. The Tobacco River side is currently 27 feet below the normal legal level and will be 23 feet below the normal level after the raise. |
