On Tuesday, February 6th, 2024, the Gladwin and Midland county boards of commissioners will meet at Dow Diamond for a joint session to review and vote on the computation of costs and special assessment rolls for the FL SAD.
The public is welcome to attend the meeting. Please note that this is a change in venue from what was originally planned. This meeting will take place at 4:00 pm at Dow Diamond in downtown Midland. Doors open at 3:30 pm. There are a variety of informational sessions scheduled for the coming months. Stay informed by being involved!
On October 20, 2022, over 200 attendees, 16 vendors and 11 presenters filed into the Midland Center for the Arts for an all-day event about the path to Four Lakes restoration. What follows is a summary of the symposium.
If you're interested in the technical side of dam restoration (hydrology, hydraulics, dam safety, dam regulations, ecosystem restoration, etc.), then you won't want to miss the seven sessions and 16 different vendors at "Path to Four Lakes Restoration: An Engineering and Technical Symposium" on October 20th.
The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), Water Resources Division (WRD), will host a public hearing to discuss permitting for Secord and Smallwood lakes.
EGLE Public Hearing Monday, September 26, 2022 6-7 p.m.  Tuesday, July 12, the Gladwin and Midland County Boards of Commissioners both unanimously approved the assessment roll for the Operations & Maintenance Assessment. The Commissioners also approved the Computation of Cost for Operations & Maintenance and the $250 million project cost estimate for restoring the four dams. The vote was an important step toward rebuilding the dams. The Operations & Maintenance Assessment is planned to appear on the December 2022 property tax bill.
