I made a presentation during the Midland Area Community Foundation’s Long-term Recovery Group meeting Thursday, March 11. Because it was in Midland, I covered a case study from Sanford. The Midland Daily News has done a good job summarizing the meeting. Please check out the link below, which I feel is worth a read. As a side note, it has somehow been misrepresented on social media that I said something to indicate I am not in favor of bringing back the lakes. Let me be clear -- when the dams are restored, the lakes will be lakes, at the levels that existed before the failure. The same is true for canals.
The mission of FLTF is to bring back the lakes. This is our commitment to the communities and the counties. To demonstrate the point, during the presentation I shared slides related to erosion and stabilization repair work occurring now, funding considerations, the process to bring back the lakes, timing, and key priorities for the near-term. All of these slides point to restoring all lakes in the Four Lakes system. We are pleased so many people are engaged in restoring the lakes and glad to have this opportunity to clarify an important point. Our mission is to restore the lakes and that is the motivation for all of our activity. After all we are the Four Lakes Task Force! Dave Comments are closed.
