The multi-billion-dollar water infrastructure bill (Senate Supplemental Bill 565) was unanimously reported Wednesday, December 1, to the Senate Appropriations Committee, and included an allocation of $250 million to be used to restore the Four Lakes Task Force dams and Secord, Smallwood, Wixom and Sanford lakes. This represents a positive step forward and we are thankful for the collective efforts of our elected officials and everyone who wrote to or called in support of the dam safety bills.
This is the start of the process and at a minimum, the bill will still go through votes by the full Senate, the House Appropriations Committee and the full House before it reaches Governor Whitmer's desk for final approval. It is not known how long this process will take. We will share updates as they're available. Comments are closed.
