Operations and Capital Assessment Estimates

The total planning estimate to restore the dams is $250 million. The Operations Assessment will begin in December of 2022. Of the 8,422 parcels in the Four Lakes Special Assessment District, approximately 91% of properties have an annual Operations Assessment of less than $240.

Thanks to a $200 million appropriation from the State of Michigan, the estimated Capital Assessment is significantly lower than originally anticipated. We estimate that approximately 92% of properties will have an annual Capital Assessment of less than $460.

The Capital Assessment will begin in 2024 for payment in 2025. The methodology for calculating property benefits is the same as what's used for the Operations Assessment.
