Edenville auxiliary spillway completed

6/10/2026

We are excited to announce that the auxiliary spillway at Edenville Dam is complete! Each of the dams in the Four Lakes system needed to include an auxiliary spillway in the plans to pass large flood flows. The passive structure requires no operation and will pass water when flood inflows reach a 200-year flood event.
Below are some fun facts about the auxiliary spillway construction.
Final Concrete Pour June 3, 2026
Spillway excavation started in July 2025.
7,000 Yards of Concrete
It required 692 concrete truck deliveries to the site to complete.
Spillway is 282 Feet Wide and 211 Feet Long
The labyrinth design gives the weir an effective width of 590 feet to increase the spillway's capacity.
Earthen Embankment Supports Concrete Spillway
Tightly packed sands with drainage layers will carry water seepage back to the river through a drainage pipe system.
